Postmodern Lumpenproletariat (Double or Nothin') by A. Shahid Stover

The BROTHERWISE DISPATCH, VOL.2, ISSUE#11, MARCH-MAY/2014

Postmodern lumpenproletariat consciousness draws its strength from the anthropological wastelands of 'race' and the Raw of coloniality, which together comprise a socio-ontological underground of modernity as constituted by a western imperialist continuum. However, it would be a mistake to assign the postmodern lumpenproletariat a 'fixed' categorical rigidity as nominally associated with vulgar class or essential ‘race’ specific determinism. Look around you, or better yet, gaze forward at the approaching horizon of historical momentum. There we are, globally displaced, racially outcast, unsavory spiritual outsiders, rugged existential outlaws, socio-historically marginalized, and yet ultimately burdened with geonational significance; the wretched of the earth.

Socio-ontological fugitives and perpetual exiles located amongst the ‘grassroots’ and the ‘elite’, we find ourselves in a position to rebel based on an existential proximity to oppression itself and/or from an epistemological proximity to the truth about such ongoing oppression. What unites us is not some 'fixed' materialist causality, but a spiritual kinship originating in the global magnitude of an undifferentiated choice of geonationalist insurrection against Empire.
